Job Description

The Manager Corporate Tax leads preparation and review of tax returns and related reports to ensure organization compliance with all federal tax laws and regulations, makes recommendations regarding tax savings plans to minimize tax liability, prepares accruals for tax accounting for the entire enterprise, including reporting on a US GAAP and US STAT basis.

What You Will Do

  • Maintains frequent contact with management and staff associates in finance, valuation, treaties and administration in order to accomplish departmental objectives.
  • Acts as a financial tax reporting resource for internal and external clients
  • Maintains integrity of tax filing calendar.
  • Evaluates, recommends and implements improvements to tax accounting projects.
  • Develops and designs accounting procedures necessary for appropriate management of area of responsibility.
  • Completes special projects as may arise with respect to acquisitions, new ventures, sales, new products and other opportunities.
  • Assure that the financial statement tax accruals are accurate.
  • Assure that the US consolidated tax return is prepared timely and accurately.
  • Assures tax accounting policies and disclosures are appropriate in light of SEC requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years tax experience
  • 1-3 years insurance accounting experience
  • Basic Word, Intermediate Excel and SQL/Query skills

Ability to share and impart knowledge

  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals and objectives
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by internal and external contacts.
  • Complex investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Intermediate skills is translating business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of tax accounting practices and procedures including GAAP and Statutory accounting methodologies, disclosure and reporting..
  • Advanced knowledge of technical tax issues as they relate to reinsurance transactions.
  • Ability to collaborate with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
  • Advanced skills in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently
