A global insurance business is seeking a highly skilled Senior Indirect Tax Manager to take ownership of managing the function. This is an exciting opportunity to join a global team, working closely with colleagues in finance across multiple jurisdictions. The role will focus primarily on VAT with some elements of IPT.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in indirect tax within the insurance or financial services sector and be capable of hitting the ground running. This role requires someone self-sufficient who is comfortable with autonomous working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of VAT and IPT returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and deadlines.
  • Manage the indirect tax compliance process, including coordinating with local finance teams, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate tax records.
  • Work closely with the global finance team to provide guidance on indirect tax matters and ensure alignment across regions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, providing clear and concise communication on tax matters and advising on indirect tax implications for business activities.
  • Support system implementation and improvements for tax processes, including automation and streamlining of reporting functions.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of indirect tax compliance and reporting.
  • Stay up to date with indirect tax legislation, particularly VAT and IPT, and ensure the business remains compliant with changes in tax laws across all jurisdictions.
  • Provide ad-hoc tax support for projects and new business initiatives as required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in indirect tax management within the insurance or financial services industry is essential. Experience with VAT and IPT returns is critical, with a strong understanding of tax compliance across multiple territories.
  • A relevant tax or accounting qualification (e.g., CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • The ability to work independently, manage your workload, and take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation.
  • A thorough understanding of indirect tax systems, processes, and reporting requirements, along with experience in system implementation and process improvement.
  • Ability to manage complex data, ensuring high levels of accuracy in tax reporting and compliance.

This role requires 3 days per week in the London office, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining days.
