A Wilmington based and rapidly growing law firm is seeking a full-time paralegal/legal assistant to add to our fast-paced and highly motivated team. Our client focuses its representation on protecting the rights of those that have been injured, whether at work or as a result of the negligence of another person or company.

The ideal candidate is able to excel in a high volume, fast-paced working environment. This person has strong organizational skills and has the desire to learn and get better every day. The ideal candidate is also detail oriented and has the ability to multitask.

Duties

  • Assist in administrative duties such as scheduling, filing lawsuits and making sure all parties have been properly served.
  • Assist in the retrieval of medical records.
  • Compiles evidence and supporting information by searching records, discovery documents, medical records, and databases; interviewing clients, third parties, and expert witnesses.
  • Prepares legal documents for attorney’s approval and use.
  • Prepares exhibits, affidavits, and other legal documents.
  • Begins legal action by arranging for notice and subpoena service.
  • Oversees cases by managing files and documents; coordinating with support services and clients, the courts, opposing counsel; managing trial calendar; maintaining schedules and deadlines; and processing settlement papers.
  • Assists attorneys for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial by preparing notebooks, exhibits, and witness files.
  • Prepares witnesses by detailing background information, preparing interview summaries and statements.
  • Assist attorney with summarizing deposition, arbitration, hearing, trial, and other transcripts.
  • Contributes to team effort as needed.

Experience as a paralegal is required.
